Free Counselling Session for Students and Parents in Kharghar

One free session for your family on academics, exam pressure, study habits, screen time and the choices ahead. At our centre or online.

Sometimes a family just needs to talk it through

Falling marks, a child who will not open a book, arguments over the phone, panic before exams, a stream choice nobody can agree on. These are some of the most common worries we hear from families in Kharghar, and they are easier to solve with someone experienced to talk to.

The Banyan Tree Learning Center offers one free counselling session for students and parents. You do not need to be enrolled with us, and there is no obligation to join.

What we can talk about

  • Academics: falling marks, weak subjects, the jump to Class 9 or Class 11, and how to catch up.
  • Exam pressure and stress: nerves, fear of failure, and planning the weeks before exams. See how to handle exam stress.
  • Study habits: building a routine, concentration, revision methods and time management.
  • Screen addiction: phones, gaming and social media, and family rules that work. See screen addiction in children and managing screen time.
  • Motivation and confidence: for students who have lost interest or belief in themselves.
  • Choices ahead: board, stream and career direction. See which stream after Class 10 and our career guidance article.
  • Parenting teenagers: communication, expectations and support at home. See parenting Gen Z and Gen Alpha.

Who you will meet

Sessions are taken by our founders, Jay Kothari and Urmi Kothari, who have taught and guided students and families in Kharghar since 2009. Read about the founders.

How it works

  • One free session per family, of about 20 to 30 minutes, personalised to your child.
  • Limited slots: we keep only 10 counselling slots a week, so please book ahead.
  • In person or online: at our Sector 20 centre, Monday to Saturday, 12:00 pm to 8:30 pm, or on a video call.
  • Parents, students or both: come together, or separately if your child would speak more freely alone.
  • Open to any school student and their parents, from any board or school, whether or not they study with us.
  • Book by WhatsApp or the enquiry form, with a line about what you would like to discuss.

A note on what this session is

This is academic and parenting guidance from experienced educators, not medical or psychological treatment. If a student shows signs of serious anxiety, low mood or other health concerns, we will gently suggest speaking to a doctor or a qualified mental health professional.
