How we teach
Teaching and learning are two sides of the same process. Every topic at TBTLC moves through the same seven stages.
Introduction
Every topic starts with what we are learning, why we are learning it and where it applies in life. Learning without a purpose is only a formality, so we never skip this step.
The concept and its story
Many students sit through a lesson at school and still are not sure what it was about. We begin with the story and background facts behind a topic, so the concept makes sense, and only then go through the textbook.
Think and question
Children are naturally curious, and we bring that curiosity into academics. Students discuss, debate and question in class, among themselves and with the teacher, and learn how to ask questions that stay on the point.
Application
Knowledge becomes real when it is used. Students solve problems, give reasons and draw conclusions with the teacher alongside. We do not hand out ready-made answers; working through a difficulty is how students become independent.
Practice
After each class there is homework, done on their own at home. This is where the real learning happens, and where a student slowly becomes self-sufficient.
Getting help
The next class begins with doubts from the homework, before we move on. This shows the teacher how each student works on their own. When a student is stuck on most of the homework, we sit with them after class and work through it together.
Review
Each topic ends with a short test. Regular reviews replace last-minute cramming, so students reach their school exams prepared and with less stress.
