For parents
Learning centres on the student, but parents are the backbone of it. This is how we work together.
Know your child
Every child is born with their own strengths. Many parents believe a child who is not good at Mathematics will not succeed in life. That is simply not true. Give your child exposure to different things, help them find what they love, and let them learn at their own pace without being pressured by a subject.
Limit expectations, widen hopes
Failing is part of learning, and no one can say how many attempts something will take. When children feel they keep falling short of expectations, many decide it is easier to give up. Talk with your child about your hopes for them instead. Children who feel supported this way take on challenges more easily.
Trust the process
Success cannot be bought; a teacher can guide a child, not guarantee an outcome. Learning in a group is different from learning at home with a parent, and it can take a few weeks to adjust. If your child feels the workload at first, encourage them to stay calm and follow the routine. It gets easier as good study habits form.
Follow the year, not just the results
We share what was taught each day, the homework given and recent test scores. A few minutes each day asking your child about their homework and helping them plan their free time makes a real difference. You do not need to teach them yourself.
Plan around the important years
Board years ask a lot of the whole family. Where you can, plan long holidays around the academic calendar, and talk to us before planning time away during term, so your child does not fall behind.
